Who We Are

Balloon the Rockies is a hot air balloon training facility located in Park City, Utah. We offer a variety of training programs, including commercial balloon 141 training, private pilot training, and recurrent training.

What We Do

We provide our students with the skills and knowledge they need to fly hot air balloons safely and confidently. Our training programs are designed to meet the needs of all students, from beginners to experienced pilots.

We are the only Part 141 hot air balloon training facility in the Rocky Mountain region. This means that our training programs meet the highest standards of the Federal Aviation Administration. We also have a team of experienced and qualified instructors who are passionate about teaching others how to fly hot air balloons.

Commercial Balloon 141 Training

Our commercial balloon 141 training program is designed to prepare students for the FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Balloon Rating. This program is typically completed in 10-12 days.

Private Pilot Training

Our private pilot training program is designed to prepare students for the FAA Private Pilot Certificate with Balloon Rating. This program is typically completed in 6-8 days.

Recurrent Training

We also offer recurrent training for pilots who want to maintain their flying skills. Our recurrent training programs are customized to meet the needs of each pilot.

Mike Bauwens

Mike Bauwens is the Chief Instructor at Balloon the Rockies. He has over 39 years of ballooning experience and is a world-renowned pilot. Mike is passionate about teaching others how to fly hot air balloons safely and confidently.
